Mexican Forces Say They Tracked El Mencho to Cabin by Following His Lover

Mexican security forces tracked down and killed El Mencho, Mexico's most wanted drug cartel leader, in a remote cabin on Sunday by following his lover, according to top security officials who revealed details of the operation. The operation was part of a larger nationwide security sweep that resulted in significant casualties, with Mexican authorities reporting 70 arrests and 34 suspected cartel members killed across the country during the crackdown. However, the operation came at a high cost, with 25 members of the national guard among the dead, and local news outlets reporting that one civilian killed was a pregnant woman who had been caught in crossfire during a shootout, highlighting the dangers faced by ordinary citizens in the conflict with cartels.
