Banijay, the global content distributor, announced plans at its London TV Screenings event yesterday to expand the revived 'Fear Factor' franchise across European markets, following the NBC reboot's stellar ratings success in the US under Johnny Knoxville's hosting. The company's Chief Content Officer, Operations, Lucas Green revealed that while Season 2 talks in the United States are 'well underway,' they are simultaneously pursuing multiple European versions to capitalize on the format's renewed popularity. The Danish broadcaster TV2 has already committed to producing a local adaptation, marking the first confirmed European version of the extreme stunt competition show. Green emphasized that Banijay is actively exploring opportunities to establish production hubs across multiple European countries, potentially bringing the adrenaline-fueled challenges to new audiences in the coming years.
