Brittin, who previously served as President of Google EMEA, will assume the role on May 18. The Director-General serves as the BBC’s chief executive officer and editor-in-chief, overseeing creative, editorial and operational leadership across the United Kingdom and internationally. Rhodri Talfan Davies will lead the BBC as Interim Director-General following Tim Davie’s departure on April 2. During this transition period, Brittin will undergo an onboarding process and conduct introductory meetings to understand the organization. Davies will retain full executive responsibility until Brittin begins his tenure on May 18. Brittin plans to appoint a Deputy Director-General among his priorities.
