They created the series with Kreischer. Got it. In his review for The Hollywood Reporter , TV critic Daniel Fienberg wrote, “Although Free Bert is successful on some level, telling a neatly arced story over six half-hour episodes that resolve in a way I found strangely satisfying (still setting up a possible season two), it’s not especially funny.” Fienberg called season one “uneven,” but conceded that “Kreischer is a reasonably good actor, or at least an actor with a lot of built-in intensity and general screen presence.” Free Bert kicked off with some viewership success, debuting in the streamer’s Global Top 10 for the week it premiered in January 2026.
