Curry Barker’s horror feature Obsession , which was picked up by Focus Features out of the Toronto Film Festival, will open Beyond Chicago, while Daniel Goldhaber’s remake of the 1973 Faces of Death classic will close the festival with a world premiere at the Music Box Theatre. In all, 30 features of varying chaos and carnage will screen at the four-day Beyond Chicago event to run April 2 to 5. The inaugural program will include Bob Odenkirk hosting a Centerpiece Screening of Ben Wheatley’s Normal, while also being on hand for a screening of Joseph Sargent’s classic thriller The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. There’s also a world bow for the 4K Rrestoration of Warner Bros.’ 2008 classic Speed Racer, presented by co-director Lilly Wachowski, and Meiko Kaji will be at Beyond Chicago for restoration pic screenings of Female Prisoner Scorpion: Jailhouse 41, Lady Snowblood and Silver Butterfly 2: She-Cat Gambler .
