The comedian and podcaster says she blindly bought a $5.9 million Los Angeles home from the HHS head and the Curb Your Enthusiasm star, only to discover the house was left in “unlivable” condition. The problems were so severe, Handler claims, that she has not been able to move into the property for five years. Speaking on her Dear Chelsea podcast earlier this month, Handler said the house was purchased through a private trust and the issues were not discovered until after the purchase. It was anonymous. I still have not lived in this house. That’s how fucked up this house was. The idea that this guy is in charge of the health of our country, when he didn’t even have a proper foundation at his house. And when [the inspectors] opened up the house, they were like, ‘This house is the most toxic environment. You cannot live here for at least two years.’ I’m not exaggerating. It was a disaster.” Hines said that after having the house redone, inspectors just found a new problem with the property — an “illegal” outdoor storage unit that had to be removed. “We had to remove his illegal bullshit from my property,” she said. Handler added, “And they had the audacity to leave me a note!
