DC Studios boss Peter Safran took the stage in Las Vegas on Tuesday to reveal the first, action-packed footage from the film. The chilling footage, which did not include any dialogue, opens with a seemingly disfigured man with bloodied bandages covering his face. A montage of moments flashes back to show what led to this moment. The final scene features titular character, played by Tom Rhys Harries, using his hand to wipe his face clean and reveal a completely blank look. Clayface is described as a horror film with a relatively trim budget of $40 million. It centers on the Batman villain known for the ability to shape-shift. Horror maestro Mike Flanagan penned the script, with See No Evil director James Watkins directing and Harries starring. The character dates back to 1940 in the comics. Clayface is produced by The Batman director Matt Reeves, along with Lynn Harris and DC Studios bosses Gunn and Safran. The film has an Oct. 11 release date and will follow June’s Supergirl on the DC Studios slate. Watkins landed the job directing the feature in February 2025 after meeting with Gunn and Safran, as he was coming off the success of Speak No Evil , which starred James McAvoy in a remake the 2022 Danish psychological horror-thriller.
