Eric Dane’s Fight Against ALS Chronicled in Posthumous Short Film

A posthumous short film titled 'Ring Every Bell' chronicling actor Eric Dane's battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) will be released this year, documenting his advocacy work to support research for the rare degenerative disease. The project, announced by the ALS Association and the film's production team, serves as both a tribute to the late actor's legacy and a continued effort to raise awareness and funding for ALS research following his diagnosis in 2022. The film, directed by longtime collaborator Sarah Jones, features never-before-seen footage from Dane's final two years, including personal video diaries, interviews with his family and medical team, and scenes from his public advocacy appearances. It specifically focuses on his work with the 'Ring Every Bell' campaign he helped launch, which raised over $15 million for experimental treatment research and patient support services. The documentary-style project captures Dane's determination to use his public platform to accelerate progress toward a cure, even as his own condition progressed. 'Ring Every Bell' is scheduled for a limited theatrical release in major cities starting October 15, followed by streaming availability on multiple platforms in November. Proceeds from the film will be directed to the Eric Dane Foundation for Neurological Research, established by his family prior to his passing. The project represents a significant cultural document in the ongoing effort to humanize the experience of neurodegenerative diseases while mobilizing public support for medical research that remains critically underfunded despite affecting approximately 30,000 Americans at any given time.
