READ MORE: UK police search two properties linked to Peter Mandelson as part of Epstein probe Sarwar said that "the distraction needs to end and the leadership in Downing Street has to change." Sarwar is the most senior Labour figure to call for Starmer to quit, piling more pressure on the prime minister over his decision to appoint Mandelson to the high-profile diplomatic post. "There have been too many mistakes," said Sarwar, who acknowledged that he was making the call in an attempt to save Labour's chances in elections for Scotland's semi-autonomous Parliament in May.
