The UCLA women’s basketball team took home its first-ever NCAA championship Sunday, defeating the University of South Carolina Gamecocks by a score of 79-51 in the women’s March Madness final . The top-ranked Gamecocks were going for their third championship win in five seasons and a fourth overall victory for head coach Dawn Staley, but fellow number-one seed UCLA secured their first college title and helped coach Cori Close earn her first trophy in 15 seasons as Bruins head coach.
