Most modern-day viewers could probably point to Geena Davis’ Morgan Adams in Cutthroat Island or Zoe Saldaña, Keira Knightley and Penélope Cruz’s portrayals in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, but the list is still few and far between. So the opportunity to play former pirate captain Ercell “Bloody Mary” Bodden in Frank E. Flowers’ hard-hitting R-rated action-thriller became a must, especially with Saldaña’s Cinestar, the Russo brothers’ AGBO and her frequent collaborators at Amazon Prime Video championing her.
