Musk also said he was a “huge admirer” of Nvidia and CEO Jensen Huang. Musk said the AI5 was primarily optimized for Tesla’s Optimus robot and robotaxi offerings. Musk said last week that Tesla’s Terafab project, which aims to build AI chips, will launch on March 21. Musk had said earlier this year that Tesla was “almost done” with the AI5 design, although reports said volume production of the chip had been delayed to mid-2027. xAI-- Musk’s AI startup that was recently folded into SpaceX-- trained its flagship Grok AI on Nvidia chips.
