The Belafonte Award, established by late Tribeca chief content officer Paula Weinstein, is given to artists who use their platform to advance equality, dignity and human rights. “There are few figures who embody the spirit of Tribeca’s Harry Belafonte Award more fully than Bruce Springsteen,” said Tribeca Festival co-founder and co-chair Jane Rosenthal. Additional highlights from the talks, reunions and retrospectives lineup announced Tuesday include a 25th anniversary screening of Bridget Jones’s Diary, followed by a conversation with director Sharon Maguire and star Renée Zellweger; a 30th anniversary screening of Bound , followed by a conversation with director Lilly Wachowski and stars Gina Gershon and Joe Pantoliano; a 50th anniversary screening of Taxi Driver , followed by a conversation between Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese; and 20th anniversary screenings of Daft Punk’s Electroma and Small Town Gay Bar .
