Investing.com -- Italian utility Enel purchased an 84-megawatt wind farm in southern Italy for approximately €145 million ($166 million) on Thursday as the company grows its renewable energy portfolio through purchases of active facilities. Enel Green Power Italia completed the transaction by acquiring 100% of Campo Eolico Ariano from a company owned by Austria’s WEB Windenergie AG.

The wind farm operates in the Campania region and generates an average annual power output of around 0.2 terawatt hours, according to the company’s statement. Enel projects the acquisition will add approximately €16 million per year to its ordinary core earnings.
