Background & History
The original Madison Square Garden opened in 1879 on Madison Square; a second venue followed in 1890. The third iteration opened in 1925 at Eighth Avenue and 50th Street. The current arena is the fourth to bear the name and is situated between Seventh and Eighth Avenues from 31st to 33rd Streets, above Pennsylvania Station.
