Brees, Fitzgerald make Hall of Fame in first year

The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced on Tuesday that legendary quarterback Drew Brees and iconic wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald have been elected as first-ballot inductees into the Class of 2026 in Canton, Ohio, to honor their extraordinary contributions to the sport. Joining the two superstars in this prestigious five-member class are kicker Adam Vinatieri, linebacker Luke Kuechly, and running back Roger Craig. The selection recognizes these athletes for their statistical dominance, longevity, and impact on the National Football League throughout their celebrated careers. Drew Brees enters the Hall of Fame as one of the most prolific passers in NFL history, having led the New Orleans Saints to a Super Bowl victory and retiring with numerous passing records. Similarly, Larry Fitzgerald is celebrated for his remarkable tenure with the Arizona Cardinals, where he climbed to second on the all-time list for career receiving yards and receptions. Both players were eligible for the first time this year, a testament to their status as consensus "locks" for the Hall following the mandatory five-year retirement waiting period.
