I love my sister and I wanted to impress her. The first single I bought I was given WH Smith tokens as a child, so I must have used the bloody things. When I was 15, I ordered Hey Joe/Radio Ethiopia by Patti Smith through the post and would play it like it was the word of God. The best song to play at a party 8 Ball by Underworld is astonishing. It’s slinky, sexy and seduces you. The song I do at karaoke I don’t usually do karaoke, but if the machine stretched to Paddy McGinty’s Goat by Val Doonican, I’d be there. The song I no longer listen to I had a brief flirtation with glam at 13, and loved Sebastian by Cockney Rebel. It now sounds preposterous, full of pretentious strings and a nonsense chorus. The song I secretly like, but tell everybody I hate I guess people wouldn’t think Billie Eilish or Beyoncé are in my canon, but they are both incredible. I have a soft spot for Vincent van Gogh, so Vincent by Don McLean would move me to tears when I was younger.
