Administration Trump slams France for not allowing plane to fly over to Israel by Mallory Wilson - 03/31/26 10:11 AM ET by Mallory Wilson - 03/31/26 10:11 AM ET Share ✕ LinkedIn Email NOW PLAYING President Trump criticized France on Tuesday for being “very unhelpful” in the Iran war after the country would not allow planes headed to Israel to fly over its territory. “The Country of France wouldn’t let planes headed to Israel, loaded up with military supplies, fly over French territory,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “France has been VERY UNHELPFUL with respect to the ‘Butcher of Iran,’ who has been successfully eliminated!” “The U.S.A. will remember!!!” he wrote. Sources told Reuters that the refusal happened over the weekend, and that it was the first time France has rejected air space since the beginning of the Iran operation. It comes after Italy reportedly would not allow the U.S. to land war planes at a base in Sicily and Spain closed its airspace to U.S. planes. “This was made perfectly clear to the American military and forces from the very beginning. Therefore, neither the bases are authorized, nor, of course, is the use of Spanish airspace authorized for any actions related to the war in Iran,” Spain’s Defense Minister Margarita Robles told reporters Monday, according to The Associated Press. Trump also hit on other U.S. allies in a separate post, naming specifically the United Kingdom. “All of those countries that can’t get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the U.S., we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT,” he said. “You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us,” he wrote.
