Multiple sites are reporting that Spears was suspected of allegedly driving under the influence, though the VC Sherriff’s Office doesn’t report a reason for the arrest. Spears, 44, was booked around 3 a.m. Thursday morning and released just after 6 a.m. as a “cite & release.” She does not have a probation recommendation listed and her vehicle is now in a tow lot. The singer, whose occupation is listed as “celebrity” in the official records, will have to report to Ventura County Superior Court on May 4. Reps for Spears and the California Highway Patrol did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone’s request for comment.
