Exactly 20 years to the day that Hannah Montana premiered on Disney Channel in 2006, Cyrus is returning as the secret pop star for an anniversary special celebrating the beloved kids series. In the special, Cyrus will revisit the music and moments from the show. The first trailer, released Tuesday , shows Cyrus visiting some of the series’ recreated sets, including the Hannah Montana closet with her mother, Tish Cyrus, and the Stewart family living room. The special will also feature never-before-seen archival footage. Filmed in front of a live studio audience, Cyrus is interviewed by Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper. “This show defined your generation,” Cooper says in the trailer, to which Cyrus responds, “This anniversary is for them. It’s for us.” The trailer also shows Cyrus with her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, who played her father in Hannah Montana . “This feels like home to me,” Cyrus says while sitting in the family living room. When Disney officially announced the special last month, Cyrus shared in a statement: “‘Hannah Montana’ will always be a part of who I am. What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I’ll always be thankful for that connection.
