Embattled Seattle police chief relieved of his duties by democratic socialist mayor, Black protest planned

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson asked Police Chief Shon Barnes to step down after criticism that he was not in the city during a mass shooting at the Bite of Seattle festival. Barnes had left a vigil for the victims and was often out of town, including time spent in Chicago where his family lives. It is not yet clear whether he has resigned or will be removed from his post.
