Privacy
You do not need an account to read this site, and we do not ask you for one. There is no login, no newsletter signup and no comment system, so there is no store of reader names, email addresses or passwords.
What we collect ourselves
Nothing you type, because there is nothing to type. The one exception is the Verify a story tool: the URL you paste is sent to our server to be checked against our topic database. We use it to answer that request and do not attach it to any profile of you.
Third parties that receive data when you load a page
- Google Analytics 4
- We use GA4 to count page views and see which sections people read. It sets cookies and receives your IP address, user agent, referrer and the pages you visit. We use it in aggregate; we do not attempt to identify individual readers. Google’s opt-out browser add-on blocks it, and so does any standard tracker blocker.
- Vercel
- The site is hosted on Vercel, which processes request data (IP address, user agent, requested URL) as part of serving pages and protecting the service.
- Outlet logo services
- Source logos are favicons loaded from
icons.duckduckgo.comandwww.google.com/s2/favicons. Your browser requests these directly, so those services see your IP address and which page requested the icon. - Article images
- Story images are served from the publisher’s own domain rather than copied onto ours, so loading a story page makes a request to those publishers’ servers.
- Google Fonts
- Typefaces are self-hosted at build time by our framework, so loading a page does not call Google’s font servers.
Advertising
Ad placements on this site are managed in our own code and drawn with CSS — no ad network, no ad tags, no behavioural targeting and no advertising cookies. Advertisers get a labelled banner and a link; they receive no data about you unless you click through, at which point their own privacy policy applies. Sponsored links carry rel="sponsored nofollow".
Cookies
We set no cookies of our own. The only cookies you may receive from this site are Google Analytics’. Blocking them costs you nothing — the site works identically.
Your requests
Because we hold no reader accounts, we usually have nothing to hand over or delete beyond what Google Analytics holds. For anything relating to data this site processes, or to ask what we hold, write to editor@bravennow.com.
Changes
If we add a service that changes what leaves your browser, this page changes with it.
