ICE lodges detainer on Salvadoran national, 18, accused of 2 fatal shootings in Houston

An 18‑year‑old man from El Salvador, Jefferson Adonay Velasquez‑Torres, is accused of killing one person and hurting two others in a shooting outside a Houston nightclub on April 27. He has been charged with murder for that incident. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has placed a detainer on him, asking Texas officials not to release him from custody without first informing ICE. The detainer is requested because he is believed to be in the United States without legal permission.
