Houthis push back on report of planned Red Sea shipping fees

Yemen's Houthi-run maritime authority said on Saturday that reports about charging fees for ships in the Red Sea are not true. The authority said its safe‑passage service is voluntary and ships can travel through the Bab el‑Mandeb strait without paying. The statement came after some news outlets suggested the Houthis might start collecting tolls. They emphasized that the waterway remains open for all commercial vessels.
