Illinois SNAP recipients kicked off the federal food program are getting $400 from the state
Thousands of Illinois residents who lost federal SNAP benefits because of new work rules will receive a one‑time $400 payment from the state. The payment is part of the Families Receiving Emergency Support for Hunger (FRESH) program. It will start on Saturday and is expected to help about 100,000 people who were cut off as of May 1.
