A new federal plan to manage the Colorado river faces a possible future of water cuts

The U.S. Interior Department released a plan to manage the Colorado River. It would require Arizona, California and Nevada to cut their water use over the next ten years. Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Wyoming would not face mandatory cuts for now. Officials say the plan is needed because the river is shrinking due to drought and overuse.
