New York nuns will not be forced to comply with assisted-suicide law while case progresses

A federal judge in New York ruled that Catholic nuns will not have to follow a state law that requires them to help terminally ill patients end their lives while the lawsuit is ongoing. Four orders of nuns and several Catholic health groups sued the state in June over the law. They argue the law forces them to act against their Catholic faith by assisting suicide. The judge said forcing them would be unlawful and unjust.
