
Man who stabbed author Salman Rushdie convicted of ‘terrorism’ charges
Hadi Matar attacked Salman Rushdie with a knife in 2022 and is already serving a 25‑year sentence for attempted murder. On Wednesday a federal jury in Buffalo found him guilty of additional terrorism charges. The jury said he tried to carry out a fatwa issued by Iran’s government against Rushdie. Matar could now receive a life sentence.
