Eric Washington worked to reduce gun violence in Los Angeles by visiting homes and linking people to help. He was shot and killed on July 4 at a block party in Compton, California. A 19‑year‑old aspiring nurse, Meah Bordenave‑Jenkins, was also killed in the same shooting. Washington was known for his love of his mother and the Los Angeles Rams and for believing Compton could change.
