Spain attacks 'selfish' response of some EU countries to Ceuta migrant crossings

Spain criticized some EU countries for reacting selfishly to a large number of migrants crossing into Ceuta. Italy responded by putting back border checks with Spain and temporarily stopping the Schengen free‑travel rule, which lets people move without passport checks in most EU countries. This means flights and ships between the two countries may face extra controls. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said the scenes in Ceuta were shocking.
