Ranchers Relief Act

When farming requires federal permission

Senator Cynthia Lummis introduced a bill called the Farmers and Ranchers Relief Act. The bill seeks to give farmers and ranchers an exemption from needing federal permits for normal agricultural activities. Over time, court decisions have narrowed these exemptions, so many farmers now must get permission from agencies like the Army Corps of Engineers. If the bill becomes law, it would reduce paperwork and costs for many farming operations.
