Commerce takes new equity stakes in 7 firms
The U.S. Department of Commerce said it will give more than $870 million in federal money to help seven semiconductor companies. In return, the government will get a small ownership share in each company. The deal is part of the CHIPS Act to boost chip making in the United States.
