Todd Blanche’s Loyalty to Trump Is Putting His Attorney General Confirmation at Risk
President Trump nominated Todd Blanche to become the next Attorney General. Two Republican senators, John Cornyn and Thom Tillis, say they will block the nomination unless the Justice Department drops a $1.8 billion fund that would pay people who claim they were wrongly prosecuted. Trump has said he may withdraw the nomination until those senators leave office or until the fund is cancelled. As a result, Blanche’s confirmation is currently stalled in the Senate.
