Lettuce farmers plow crops back into soil as cyclosporiasis fears tank demand for fresh greens

Farmers are destroying lettuce because people are afraid of a parasite called cyclospora. One farmer in California chopped up 300,000 pounds of romaine lettuce and plowed it back into the soil. Health officials say more than 400 people in the U.S. have gotten sick from the outbreak, but there is no proof the farmer's lettuce was infected.
