Scientists studied DNA from an ancient mummy found in the Americas. They found strains of the smallpox virus that match those from Europe. This shows that smallpox was brought to the New World by European colonists.

A metal detectorist found a Roman-era coin in a farmer's field. Almost two decades later, archaeologists found an ancient villa with a beautiful mosaic floor. The mosaic is very old, from the fourth century.
