Shirley MacLaine has made a rare video appearance at the age of 92, and she’s not shy to throw some quips at “Sweet Charity‘s” expense. “I would like to see ‘Sweet Charity’ again. Now, while you’re watching it, remember how hard we worked,” MacLaine said in a video posted by the Southampton Playhouse ahead of the theater’s upcoming screening of Bob Fosse’s musical film. “And between you and me, it didn’t do very well.” MacLaine starred in Bob Fosse’s “Sweet Charity,” which released in 1969 and was a box office flop; nevertheless, Fosse found commercial success later in his career with “Cabaret” and “All That Jazz.” In Fosse’s directorial debut, MacLaine was joined in the cast by Sammy Davis Jr., Chita Rivera, John McMartin, Paula Kelly and Ricardo Montalban.
