A teen girl in NorCal survived a harrowing sexual assault as she walked to school last Saturday, police said. The 16-year-old high school student was walking to Alisal High School in Salinas that morning when a man approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her, the Salinas Police Department said.

A teen girl in NorCal survived a harrowing sexual assault as she walked to school last Saturday, police said. The 16-year-old high school student was walking to Alisal High School in Salinas that morning when a man approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her, the Salinas Police Department said. The girl fought back against the predator’s advances and fled, they added. Police found and arrested the suspect, 30-year-old Jose Ramirez Zurita, with the help of surveillance video and witness statements.
