<p>A DuPage County judge on Friday ordered a former West Chicago third grade teacher detained after he was accused of sexually abusing five students multiple times over the 2025-2026 school year, county officials announced Friday.</p><p>Mario Garcia, 54, of Aurora, was charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, five counts of aggravated sexual abuse and four counts of aggravated battery, according to a statement from the DuPage County state's attorney's office. </p><p>Following a thorough, child-sensitive investigation, it was alleged that during the 2025-2026 school year, Garcia inappropriately touched five students on multiple occasions at Currier Elementary school, 800 Garys Mill Rd.
