For the First Time, Zoox Can Charge People for Rides in Its Steering-Wheel-Free Robotaxis

Zoox received permission from the U.S. safety agency to charge people for rides in its robotaxis that have no steering wheel. The approval lets Zoox put up to 2,500 of its electric vehicles on the road each year for the next two years. It will start with paid rides in Las Vegas, where it has been giving free trips since last year. Zoox also continues free tests in Austin, Miami, and San Francisco.
